Sew Delighted!

Welcome to Sew Delighted!

I absolutely love to create things. It gives me such joy to pick colors, design, think and rethink, experiment and see a final product. I have dabbled in all kinds of creative outlets like crocheting, cross stitching, quilting, painting, knitting, scrapbooking, embroidery, sewing and stamping. So I've decided to sell my creations! I want to make items such as flannel cloth diapers, crochet cotton doublers for diapers, cloth wipes for baby and/or adults, dish cloths, scarves, baby afghans, baby quilts, cloth baby toys, napkins, placemats, aprons and a myriad of other things.

Not only does this give me an avenue for keeping the creative juices flowing, but also, I hope it to be a blessing to you and others. Therefore, I've decided to give a portion of the proceeds from my sales to the Tucson Refugee Ministry.  This ministry seeks to provide for the needs of refugees in the Tucson area who have traveled to our country from places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Russia, Bhutan and Sudan. The founder and organizer of this organization is a personal friend who works tirelessly to recruit churches and other volunteers to adopt refugee families so they can settle more easily in the area and get on their feet. Some of these refugees are highly educated and highly skilled, but some of them are from remote, poor areas and have had little contact with the west. It can be a very difficult process for these refugees to transition into a productive role in the US, and they do not receive much help from the government. The organization offers support, furnishing apartments, baby showers, English classes, English camps, plus a lot more!

Cloth Diapers
These are based on several different patterns put together after much thinking and experimenting. They have a thick terry cloth towel or cotton prefold pad sewn between to two layers of prewashed/preshrunk cotton flannel (outside and inside layer). Also, a layer of no-pill fleece lays next to baby's skin and is open on both ends to allow you to stuff the diaper with extra layers for naps or night time. This layer also wicks away moisture so baby feels dryer. Gentle elastic around the legs helps keep unwanted messes in. These can be used from nearly birth (depending on baby size) to potty training. Simply fold the front, back or both to make it different sizes. Rises are 11", 14.5" and 17.5". These stay secure on baby with pins or snappies. (If using snappies, they work best if you air dry your diapers.) You will need a diaper cover with these. They are not waterproof!
$6 each, 3 for $16.50

Diaper Doublers
These are intended to be used as an extra absorption layer in stuff-able cloth diapers, like the ones I've made. I experimented with different kinds of yarn and stitches and found that a tightly crocheted cotton works really well for absorbing and easy washing. These feel stiff if they've been air dried but that doesn't affect the absorbency and since they're stuffed inside the diaper, the baby doesn't feel it on his skin anyway. Fluffing in the dryer makes them softer.

Varied Pink & White

Varied Blue & Cream

Multicolored - There are two of these, one is not pictured.

"Half" - ghans
Our son was given a tiny 18" square afghan while in the NICU. I thought that he would out grow it quickly, however, he and we have grown le love it. I call it a half-ghan since it's half the size of a regular baby afghan, and I've decided to make some for you! These can be used for a cover, a car seat blanket or stroller blanket and/or a "lovey" especially when your baby gets older. I think these make great gifts! These are all around 18" square; however, some may be a bit smaller and some a bit larger.
$15 each

Sweet Winter Fresh - The color in this blanket reminds me of those bluish clear candies or rock candy.

Dainty Pink - This blanket is on the wee side. It is smaller than 18" square but still very useful for all the purposes listed above!

Wee Waffle Weave - This is just like Wes's blanket, only it is antique white instead of blue. It is not a bright white, more like a creamy sweetness!

Cloth Wipes
These soft, two-layer, top stitched, flannel wipes are not just for cleaning baby's bum! These can be used for wiping noses, as a wash cloth for your wee one, and as a mop rag after feeding solid foods. These are also handy in the diaper bag as a small, all-purpose cloth. HOWEVER, these are not just for babies!!! I have confiscated some of these from our stash for dish rags. They are the perfect size for me. I always thought that regular dish clothes were too big. These are just right! I plan to make some with more adult fabrics as well as with infant fabric. Approximately 3.5 in. x 6.5 in.
15 wipes for $10, 8 wipes for $5.50, 5 for $4.
